In an article in Tablet written by Arsham Parsi, the issue of the Iranian regime oppression of homosexuals and queer people is documented and elaborated on. On the basis of data and interviews, the article documents wide spread persecution and discrimination against LGBTQ in Iran. For the LGBTQ it is described as a fight for survival, living in a constant atmosphere of uncertainly, peril and pressure. Physical and psychological abuse during detention were also reported. Discrimination of LGBTQ is found to be official and institutional. They report that more than 4,000 members of sexual minorities have been executed in Iran since 1979.
