Tehran now bans…Zumba

The Iranian authorities issued an edict banning the Latin American Zumba dance style, claiming it contravenes Islamic Ideology. After becoming a popular type of aerobics dance class and exercise method, including in Iran, the Iranian authorities decided to ban Zumba, further curbing freedom of the individual in Iran. The edict was issued by the governmental “Sports for all Federation”. The fans of Zumba are refusing to back down, seeking means and methods of circumventing the ban.
