Over 800 political prisoners in Iran

The US state department issued (May 17, 2017) a report, pursuant to the comprehensive Iran sanctions act of 2010. The report states that Iran’s conduct in the field of human rights has grown worse in recent years. The report assesses that there are currently over 800 political prisoners held under custody in Iran, confirming that Tehran denies fundamental freedoms to the Iranian people. This situation is not only problematic for the Iranian people, it is a danger to foreigners who come to Iran for personal or business reasons.
