Rouhani’s broken promises and “starred student”

Mahdieh Golroo is an Iranian human rights activist who has already spent two and half years in jail for her efforts. In 2007, long before landing in jail, she was expelled from the university she was attending and received a dreaded “star” identifying her as being expelled for political reasons. Now, she is trying to resume her studies but, being a “starred student”, she cannot. Following President Rouhani’s to “get rid of the term “starred students”, she has written an open letter to Rouhani questioning his resolve to fulfil his promises: “I voted for you… and now I have a right to question your promises”.
