Concert cancellations by the regime on the rise in Iran

There’s a big cultural “war” going on in Iran which has huge political overtones and at its core, the war is over which public concerts are approved and which are cancelled. Rouhani’s government is pushing for more freedom to hold concerts but his government, even the Ministry of Culture, which is responsible for these concerts, is powerless against hardline factions in the regime which are cancelling the concerts as part of an political battle against Rouhani. For now, all concerts have to be filmed by the authorities and the content of the concerts as well the behavior of the concert-goers should be monitored. In other words, artistic censorship which the artists’ fans are powerless to do anything about.
